Earth Day isn’t just about hugging trees (though we’re fans of that, too). It’s about celebrating the real, impactful work being done to protect the planet we love, and the people and producers doing it right.

Imagine if protecting the planet’s resources was as easy (and fun!) as sipping your favorite drink. This Earth Day, we’re tipping our hats (and raising our glasses) to the innovative beverage producers in the #CraftedCommunity going above and beyond to champion sustainability.

At Doozy, we work with some of the world’s most inspiring breweries, distilleries and wineries. They’re not just crafting award-winning beverages — they’re also making sustainability a top priority. From water conservation to waste reduction, renewable energy to community restoration, the #CraftedCommunity proves that purpose and profit can go hand in hand.

These change-makers aren’t just altruistic; they understand sustainability is essential to long-term success. Ultimately, this industry’s livelihood depends directly on the climate and environment. Healthy soil, clean water and stable ecosystems are foundational to producing quality beverages year after year. Protecting the planet isn’t merely good ethics — it’s smart business.

Take a look at how these producers are showing the industry what a sustainable business really looks like.

Graphic that states: Earth Day began as a protest on April 22, 1970, when 20 million Americans took the streets to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Brewing a Greener Future

Ever had beer from a farm that used to be a dairy? Australia-based Beerfarm transformed a former dairy farm into a buzzing sustainable brewery, complete with native plant restoration, onsite composting and water recycling. Now that’s farm-to-glass done right!

Meanwhile, Topa Topa Brewing Co. pours more than just great beer in California — it pours profits directly into protecting the planet. As a proud participant in 1% for the Planet, the brewery donates 1% of its annual sales to environmental causes. Who knew drinking beer could be so noble?

Not to be outdone, Athletic Brewing Co. is hiking sustainability up another notch. The non-alcoholic powerhouse donates 2% of sales to its “Two for the Trails” initiative to maintain and protect outdoor spaces across America. With over 100 trail projects funded, the brewery is literally blazing paths to a greener future.

Maui Brewing takes its island vibes seriously — and so does its environmental footprint. The Hawaiian brewery has woven sustainability into its DNA by embracing solar power, recapturing CO₂ from fermentation, and switching to recyclable cartons. By embracing circular solutions and local sourcing, it has set a gold standard for eco-conscious brewing on (and off) the island. Who says you can’t be sustainable on island time?

Distilling Eco-Friendly Innovations

Barr Hill Distillery in Vermont has cracked the code on sustainable distilling by going completely carbon-neutral. Operating on a restored industrial site powered by renewable energy, it has also created expansive habitats for pollinators to support the production of the key ingredient in its spirits. Turns out bees love sustainability, too!

In Kentucky, Castle & Key Distillery is harnessing the sun’s power. After investing $2 million in solar energy, its 754 solar panels generate enough juice to power 100% of its operation and even send surplus energy back to the local grid. Solar bourbon, anyone?

Graphic that states: Researchers uncovered that 80% of U.S. energy could be supplied by wind and solar power.

Wineries With a Green Agenda

In Napa Valley, Far Niente Winery sets a stellar example by recycling 100% of its winery water and nurturing biodiversity throughout its vineyards. The winery is also a pioneer in solar power. Since 2008, it has operated with one of the wine industry’s first net-zero energy systems, pairing solar panels with eco-friendly farming practices. Far Niente is ensuring great Napa wine can be produced for generations to come.

Revolutionizing wine delivery, Free Flow Wines eliminates single-use bottles entirely. Their wine-on-tap program keeps wine fresh, reduces waste, and significantly reduces carbon emissions. Fresh wine in a keg that’s fresh for the planet? We’ll toast to that!

In Australia, Tyrrell’s Wines has achieved its Sustainable Winegrowing certification. The award-winning winery has adopted a comprehensive sustainability plan that includes energy and water conservation, waste reduction and eco-friendly packaging. Proof that a good vintage can also do good.
